6 Reasons to Be Thankful for Dogs

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. While many of us are looking forward to that delicious seasonal food, it’s also important to remember the reason for the holiday: gratitude. One thing that we are definitely thankful for is our canine companions. Fido hasn’t earned the title of Man’s Best Friend for nothing! A Cincinnati, OH vet lists some reasons to be grateful for dogs below.

One thing that really stands out about dogs is their devotion. Fido doesn’t care what you wear, where you work, or what kind of vehicle you’re driving. He only wants to spend time with you! Our four-legged buddies often stay with us through life’s various ups and downs, and often outlast jobs, homes, and even relationships. That unwavering, unconditional devotion is truly rare, and is definitely something to be thankful for.

Our canine buddies are always cute, but they are absolutely adorable when they are running after their favorite toy or jumping up to catch a ball or frisbee. Spending a few minutes a day playing with your furry bff is a wonderful way to shake off a long day!

Dogs have long been honored for the way they protect their humans. Fido has expressed his loyalty in many different ways, from barking to let us know someone’s at the door to actually risking his life to help his human pals.

Fido can also serve as great inspiration. For example, he has a way of reminding us to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, and to live each day to the fullest. Dogs are also a great living reminder of how important it is to stop and smell the roses. (Your furry pal will also stop to smell the grass, trees, bushes, sidewalk, and brush, but that’s another topic.)

Our canine friends to be very, very affectionate towards their humans. Fido’s main goals in life are to spend as much time with you as possible and collect as many ear scritches and belly rubs as he can. That’s definitely something to treasure.

Tail Wags

Seeing a cute pup happily wagging his tail is an immediate mood booster. It’s hard not to smile at this adorable sign of doggy contentment. In fact, Fido’s joy is often contagious!
