Our Veterinarians

Dr. Deborah McArthur
Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Deborah McArthur was only 10 years old when she decided that she would become a veterinarian when she grew up. That passion simply never wavered. The older she got, the more Dr. McArthur wanted to learn about animals and their healthcare needs. For her, working as a veterinarian simply made sense! Her journey has now come full-circle: Dr. McArthur is the proud owner and operator of her very own clinic, Peach Grove Animal Hospital.

Dr. McArthur is a Cincinnati native and attended Butler University in Indianapolis for her undergraduate studies, even spending a year abroad in Lausanne, Switzerland. It was while volunteering at the Indianapolis Zoo and performing behavior observation sessions for the psychology department at Butler University that she fell in love with elephants—Dr. McArthur is an avid collector of elephant figurines, and has over 800 in her home and here at the hospital!

Dr. McArthur attended Purdue University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in Lafayette and graduated in 1997. She returned to Cincinnati to launch her career, and joined the Peach Grove Animal Hospital family in the fall of 1998 as an Associate Veterinarian. Now, Dr. McArthur is the proud owner of the hospital, and looks forward to continuing the excellent tradition of quality and compassionate care that the clinic is known for.

Dr. McArthur’s professional memberships include the Cincinnati Veterinary Medical Association (of which she is a past President), the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She’s also a member of the Society for Theriogenologists (the study of animal reproduction), a discipline that Dr. McArthur fell in love with during veterinary school.

When she isn’t helping pets to feel their best here at the clinic, Dr. McArthur enjoys traveling around the United States and abroad, reading mystery and fiction novels, singing—she was even a past member of a women’s four-part harmony barbershop-style choir!—and spending time with her own pets. Dr. McArthur shares her home with five loveable cats.
Dr. Bergman
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Bergman began riding horses with her mother, a horse trainer, when she was only five years old. Throughout elementary school, high school, and into college, she rode Arabian horses and competed at a national level. It was those experiences, especially on the back of her beloved horse Casey, that taught Dr. Bergman one thing: she wanted to do everything in her power to help the earth’s creatures live happy, healthy lives! That’s why she decided to enter the veterinary profession.

Dr. Bergman is from Stillwater, Minnesota and first attended the University of Minnesota to study marketing. But after some time spent studying abroad in Bristol, England, her mind was made up: she had to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Bergman returned to the United States and switched her major to biology. It wasn’t long before she was shadowing equine veterinarians and working at small animal clinics to gain real world experience in the
field.

Next, Dr. Bergman earned her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota in 2010. She completed an internship with Stillwater Equine Veterinary Hospital after graduation, and would spend the next five years working as a veterinarian in Minnesota before relocating to Cincinnati in 2015. Now, Dr. Bergman is thrilled to care for the pets and animal owners of the area as a part of the Peach Grove Animal Hospital family!

When she’s not at work, Dr. Bergman likes gardening, cooking, and horseback riding. She and her husband, Gabe, have two wonderful daughters named Penelope and Lily, and the family also has several pets: two dogs, Hazel and Gertie; and three loveable cats who go by Zeus, Snicklefritz and Wonder.
